UFC 111: Mir vs.Carwin

The third installment of Brock Lesnar - Frank Mir seems won't be happening sooner as the result of
UFC 111 saw Mir sufffers another setback when undefeated Shane Carwin defeated the former champ via KO (punches) at 3:48 of round 1 to become the UFC Interim Heavyweight champion.

As a result, "The Engineer" Carwin will face UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar, who will make his return after an extended period of absence due to illness, at UFC 116 on July 3.

Mir, whose all of 5 losses resulted to knock-outs, tried to control Carwin at the start of the fight with his jiu-jitsu style. But Mir failed to ground Carwin, until the former champ gave enough space to the undefeated opponent, who proves himself to be more powerful, to unleash a series of uppercuts that brought him to his knees. Another series of strikes to the head that ended the fight.

This fight was also Carwin's longest in his 12 fights, as all of his 11 previous opponents barely made to the 2-minute mark of the first round.
