The Punisher Scores A "Win"
In a bizarre finish, "The Punisher" Paul Williams scored a split technical decision over Kermit "The Killer" Cintron on Home Depot Center at Carson, California. The 3-time world champion Williams (39-1, 27), who got 2 of the judges scorecards, got tangled with Cintron (32-3-1, 28KO) and fell down while Cintron stumbled out off the ring and reportedly hit his head to one of the monitors, then fell again to the concrete floor which serves as a tennis court when it is not used as a boxing arena. Due to California rules, where the fight needs only to start the 4th round to reach a decision, the fight was awarded to Williams.
